The St Gall cheese derives its name from Saint Gall, one of the companions of Saint Columbanus. This is a typical fine Swiss cheese and has a subtle sweet and sour taste. It is a hard cheese made from the milk obtained from Friesian cows and has an intense flavour. It has also won a Gold Medal in 2008 at the World Cheese Awards held in Dublin.
